I hope somebody can help me out I'm having trouble activating dual-channel on a Ryzen system.

The single sticks of RAM boot and work perfectly one by one but when I try to insert both RAMs for dual channel the system won't boot at all not even bios screen. One thing i noticed, is that when in the bios i leave everything on auto, it sets the Tras timing to 36, and boots. I can post bios pictures if it helps, just ask me.

Thank you very much in advance! Last edited: Aug 4, Aug 4, at PM 2. Sure its 1 and 3? Aug 4, at PM 3. Aug 4, at PM 4.

gigabyte dual channel memory problem

This is from the motherboard manual :- Dual Channel Memory Configuration This motherboard provides four memory sockets and supports Dual Channel Technology. After the memory is installed, the BIOS will automatically detect the specifications and capacity of the memory.

Enabling Dual Channel memory mode will double the original memory bandwidth.Home Help Login Register. Enabling Dual Channel Memory. In my attempt to find a solution I read on one forum that enabling the dual channel mode may rectify the issue.

I am a little confused over the comment about enabling Dual Channel mode for the memory. How many RAM Modules are you running? What RAM Slots are the in on the motherboard?

If you are running4 sticks then the system will be running in Dual channel mode. If you have only 2 sticks then you need to configure them according to the user's manual for Dual Channel mode.

What are your full system spec's especially which HDD's are you running? If you are running any "Green" HDD's this can cause some freezing issues as the drives take time to spin up when being accessed. If you check here you may find that certain items are being powered down after a period of 20 minutes, this can introduce freezing when you then try to do something as the components need to re-start.

Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better. Hello Absic, I have got four sticks of RAM in the 4 slots on my motherboard, I read the mobo book and it mentioned enabling dual channel but now I know I have. Quote from: teknology9 on July 25,pm.

Thanks again Absic, my keyboard and mouse may not be Windows 7 compatible is that likely to be a factor also? Cheers, Teknology9. Things like keyboard and mouse can cause problems but I wouldn't think they are the cause of your freezing.

Windows 7 and a lot of other programmes have built in energy saving features that can cause some real issues unless they are disabled and this is the probable cause with your system.

If Windows 7 freezes for a short time a few seconds up to about 2 minutes and then resumes, it is doubtful that it is down to the hardware. Thanks for the reply. How do I go about obtaining the memtest software, is it possible to download it on to a memory stick or does it go on to a cd?

I read that it comes as an ISO file, but being a newbie I don't know how to do this. Thanks for you help, Teknology9. Thanks for that Absic, I know I've asked a few questions so thanks for your patience and it is much appreciated. Thanks again, Tek9. Hello, PC or internet froze again. I ran the driver agent utility and it still shows my old Phenom II cpu and not the T for some reason, I have attached a screenshot there are some drivers stating that they need to be preinstalled will that mean a complete reinstallation?

I think I have done all of the power options and cannot think of any others. Is it likely that some malware is causing this, my Kaspersky identified PDM.

Hi again, Not sure about the driver agent utility as I do not use that software. The only thing I can think of is that it is holding a record of your previous set-up as it shows the processor under disconnected device. If you just swapped your CPU's over and continued to run your existing Windows installation that is probably why you are seeing it in these images. Having to re-install the OS is never a task that you look forward to but I have learnt that it is often the best way to resolve issues and to give a clean starting point when facing random issues and it may be the best way forward for you.Forums New posts Search forums.

Can't activate Dual-Channel with XMP Ram on Ryzen ?

For a better experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser before proceeding. Joined Oct 20, Messages 2 0. Hi and thank you. Thank you so much. Joined Nov 20, Messages 4, 1. Remove your CPU and check whether you have bent pins in the socket. BTW your board supports dual channel only in and slots according to the manual.

With different sticks, like that 8GB and 4GB you've tried, dual-channel won't work. If the above manipulations did not help, try setting the memory to DDR or lower and set the timings and voltage according to its SPD spec. See if it starts. Joined Oct 2, Messages 13, 2. With some coolers, attaching them too tightly bends the motherboard and disconnects all or some DIMM pins. Is any of 3 and 4 slot located near CPU socket?

I had this problem once. In best cases, you just don't have RAM detected, in worse, the system won't even boot. Try loosing CPU cooler a bit and observe how motherboard straightens, but keep it tight enough to have good contact.

If that is the issue of course.Solved Dual Channel Ram issue. I recently upgraded a noisey cpu, fan and heatsink and decided to buy some more ram whilst i was at it. New heatsink installed nicely and went to put some more ram in, only to find out afterwards that dual channel ram works in pairs. My problem is that after reverting back to just two sticks of ram my bios only shows half the amount of ram available.

This also didnt happen straight away but after a couple of days. The ram is installed in the correct slots. Cpu-z says they are running in dual channel mode Unganged. Ive reset the Cmos. Ive re installed windows. All ive done is stick the old ram back in.

Im wondering whether the mobo is broken or the Cpu's memory controller is broken?

Cheers Matthew. See More: Dual Channel Ram issue. Sorry, I missed that all 4 sticks of RAM are exactly the same - same brand, same spec, same number of chips, same color, etc, etc, etc. They're shown as the two closet to the CPU. If none of them work, not even the originals, you must have done something wrong. Are you hearing any beeps at start up? Do you normally hear a single beep at startup?

If you used to hear a single beep but now hear none, RAM probably isn't your problem. Look into the OTHER specs on the memory, if the timings are not compatible or the voltages are different, they may be causing the issue. If the memory modules have other optional timings or you want to try the 'looser' timing of the two sets, then you will need to manually set your BIOS. If the voltages are different by a couple of tenths, try in between or the higher of the two voltages.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane. If not, the RAM may be incompatible due to capacity or density. Check on crucial. CPUs don't make noise.Forum Rules. Remember Me? How to activate Dual channel Memory?

Page 1 of 2 1 2 Last Jump to page: Results 1 to 10 of Orinocos's PC Specs. Before buying the rams i forgot to check the QVL list of the motherboard and later noticed that they are not in it. I tried the following; -Installing them in every slot one by one to test them and i noticed that when i install them in last two slots, this issue occurs. I'm not sure is it because my kit is not supported or there is a problem with the slots.

Can anyone confirm it that this kit works with this motherboard? Besides that i'm really out of ideas. Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you all in advance. Chike's PC Specs. Not being on the qvl does not mean they don't work, they may just not have been tested.

I looked at it and checked for a solid minutes with flash on. I'd start with the board rma. I see things looking like stains on the cpu not sure what they are but i'm writing this using my pc atm so i don't think my cpu is broken. Originally Posted by stasio. Originally Posted by Chike. Some motherboards can be picky. If not, check the manufactuer's website. Did you put both the ram sticks into the dual channels or the non dual channels?

Look HERE it may help. EDIT: that file is the same as my mobo book and i didnt find any answer in there. As far as using dual channel on your mobo, you need to insert the ram sticks thus. One in channel "A" and one in channel "B" Please see the jpeg attatchment. You may need to zoom in on the pic to get a clearer view. I hope this helps. Regards Howard. No dual channel is with one stick in each colour, as per the pic. This is according to your mobo manual.
